The American Lake Division is a primary and secondary care facility providing inpatient and outpatient care. Services include acute general medicine, ambulatory surgery, acute psychiatry, a homeless domiciliary program and a nursing home care unit.

The VA PSHCS is affiliated with the University of Washington, provides all levels of care and is the tertiary and special psychiatry referral center for veterans in the region. A 1,000 bed psychiatric hospital serving the western Washington population, Western State has three distinct clinical units: Adult Psychiatric Unit, Geriatric Medical Unit, and the Legal Offender Unit.
