Celebrating
our Heritage and Building for the Future
This
year the Chamber of Commerce celebrates its 30th
birthday. Any birthday celebration gives us time to reflect on
past successes and our future needs.
Your
Board of Directors just recently finished a retreat to look at
what works and where we need to improve. We will be focusing our
efforts on the Chamber’s general health, membership retention,
political action, and networking opportunities for businesses.
These
four areas sound very simple and not very exciting. However, they
are the life’s blood of any chamber organization. It is only
through expanding business contacts, opportunities, and raising
the awareness of elected officials to issues that affect the
performance of business that we truly can be effective to you, our
members.
More
than ever, you need to take an active part in your Chamber of
Commerce. With all of the downturns in the economy and the vision
that people have of business as being less than professional, your
Chamber needs your help in ensuring that the community understands
that, without business, there is no growth, there is no stability,
and there is no future.
Your
Board of Directors is committed to making sure that the Chamber is
the place to do business and that business is heard. I look
forward to serving you this year and hope to hear from you with
your issues and needs for service from the Chamber.
We
have a great heritage in celebrating our 30 years. We cannot sit
back on our accomplishments but need to expand our horizons, so
that we will continue to serve you for another 30 years.
